THE LAKE HUITES POST SPAWN BITE IS ON!
The following reports are just in and there are two groups at the lodge now reporting excellent catches as well with some post spawn giants in the mix as well. Swimbaits, Lake Toho Spoons and Big Palstics are the ticket for the Huites Giants located on structure. April, May and June are the least pressured months of the season in Mexico and Huites is the Hottest Big Bass Lake in Mexico right now! |

From our repeat guest George White... "David we had an awesome trip. George, Freddy and Luis made us feel right at home, as usual. Food was outstanding and accomadations were top notch. Now to the fishing. Luis took us to catch numbers in the morning, usually 40 to 50 fish, and then to the big fish spots in the afternoon. We caught one 10.40 pounder, four at 9# and three at 8#, with numerous 6 and 7 pound fish in those afternoon sessions. Almost all of the big fish had spawned, so I can't imagine how much they would have weighed full of eggs!!!!!!! I have attached some pictures. Thanks to you and the team for making another memorable trip possible."

"Hi David Just wanted to send along a huge thank you. Our early March trip to Trophy Bass Lodge was another "trip of a lifetime." Last November's TBL and Lake Huites was all about numbers and large feisty bass--four days of fishing produced well over 400 bass in the 3 to 6 pound range. Dennis and I caught more bass the first day than we had in the previous twenty years combined...and they were all tough-fighting, aggressive hitters on top waters and crankbaits.... Last week Dennis and I had a dilemma...how do we finish off a morning of fighting gusty winds that were almost too strong for catching fish. We only had one fish from a few bites. Luis decided to try one more spot-"-we'll see if the big ones are home"-- to salvage the morning. The big ones were home. The first cast with a pearl swim bait produced an 11 1/2 # bass for Dennis. The second cast produced an 8 pounder for Dennis. We returned after lunch. First cast with the pearl swim bait brought a 9 1/2 pounder for me. Three "lifetime" best bass on 8 casts to the same hole in a two hour period of time. And bang, in the blink of an eye, our lifetime goal of a 10 # bass was fulfilled. Well, Dennis' goal was. I'll still be searching for my own "10." Our remaining two days of fishing we targeted the big fish but couldn't improve on day 1's success. We took plenty of fish, though. Lots of 3, 4, and 5 pounders fell to flukes and spinner baits on both days. We tangled with a few 6 & 7s also. Another great fishing trip. Also have to say thanks for putting together such a great staff. The guides always put us on fish. Freddy put some great meals together--breakfast, lunch, and dinner. (How do you gain weight on a fishing trip?) All your people--housekeeping and maintenance--were focused on our comfort and satisfaction. Thanks again, David. Trophy Bass Lodge is a "class" operation. Dennis and I will be back" John Smallenburg

Dan Makauskas with Huites Kid! Hi David, Spent 3/09/09 to 3/13/09 at Trophy Bass Lodge. We had a good trip overall. I'm going to post on the reports section about our catch. We were looking for that double digit bass but that eluded us. Food was great...the staff was excellent and Luis was as good a guide as I've fished with. The ride to the lodge, well you can't explain that you can only experience it! Fishing for numbers was good. There were times when you had to work for them. We had decent luck fishing with Luis off of deep humps throwing swim baits in pearl and chartreuse and bunker colors. Fish were quality in the 4 to 8 pound range with the majority being 5 and 6 pounds. Friday morning we had an awesome top water bite that lasted 3.5 hours using Yellow Magic and Pop R's. Cranks were Ok and produced some fish as we didn't throw them a lot. Plastics caught their share of fish as well, with watermelon flukes and trick worms leading the way. All in all fishing was good and although we didn't get the big numbers, we were satisfied with the numbers that we caught. Ed Makauskas

April, May and June on Huites are the best kept secrets in Mexico! Post spawn on Huites is a special time of the year for those that enjoy the hunt for the proverbial "Honey Hole." The Huites Kids love to position and get comfortable in their favorite haunts of deep water structure. Tops of humps at 15' to 35'...river ledges and bends to 45'...long tapered points and ridges with boulders and wood are the anomalies of choice for the green fish and the serious structure fin'atic as well . May has been my post spawn month of choice in Mexico for years. This year will be no different! I know its hot in May in Mexico but the bassin'...for those fin'atics that like chunkin' big plastics, spoons, jigs and swim baits...post spawn on Huites is just the ticket! Early morning and late afternoon top water action can get pretty unruly sometimes as well.
I know that some of you will never leave your favorite stateside water of choice in late spring...and that's okay, we'll see you at Huites in the fall and winter. But for you fin'atics that can leave your favorite ponds for just a few days and come to Huites and brave the heat the Hutes Kids are hungry and ready to offer you some outstanding action. So grab your honey or grab your buddy and "Come on down and get some!"
We've got plenty of open spots for April and May at our Special Big Bass Stimulus Price of $1150.00 for 3 days/ 4 nights all inclusive FOB Los Mochis or 4 full days of fishing and 5 nights lodging at the special Stimulus Offering of $1350.00.
