THE FALL TOPWATER BITE IS ON!
The HighRoller 4.5" RipRoller is a Huites sleeper. I n early October we found the fish suspended in deep water at about 15'. The forage of choice was small shad. The bass were slammin' the bait fish and a number of surface baits were producing but the HR RipRoller was producing 4 to 1 strikes and consistantly solid hook-ups while the other baits were recieving short strikes. This bait works well enough as a surface twitch bait but don't hesitate to work the bait as the name implies...with short rips of 12 - 16 inches and Hold On! As the fish transition to the banks in the fall following the forage the High Roller RipRoller is my Go To topwater. Visit our friends at: www.HighRollerLures.com

Excalibur's New XR 50 Rattle Bait Calls'em Up!
This lipless crankbait brought them in and up from far-off with super-loud rattles and a tight, precision-tuned vibrating wiggle. It casts like a bullet and emits an awesome amount of vibration at a death-cry-of-a-minnow pitch. Its meticulously detailed design makes this rattle bait an unparalleled choice in vibrating lures. The suspended fish fell victim to the XR 50 in chrome w/ blue back throughout the month of October and it is still easily the top hardbait producer! Visit our friends at: www.ExcaliburLures.com

Greg Thompson Group just returns from The Lodge
November 5th
Have you had your Huites (Wheates) today? As I set the hook on yet another Huites bass, I begin to realize these aren't your normal, everyday, large mouth bass. Every fish I hooked was strong, healthy and very well fed as evident by their ever present fat bellies. This was my first trip to Mexico to fish freshwater and the expectations were high. Huites didn't disappoint. I was fortunate to travel with my good friends Bobby Foster, Capt. James Henderson, Ron Peebles and Jimmy Wolfe. Trophy Bass Lodge has the feel of a private Hacienda on your own private lake. The staff is friendly, efficient and always tries to please. The food is first class and to call Freddie just a cook would be an insult. He is truly a Chef! The Lake is a beautiful clear green color set amongst shear rock walls and cactus filled mountains. The fishing is a mix of large sunken humps, deep rock points and large shallow flats. Fish are heard and seen busting tilapia minnows all day. At the time we fished, the water was a little high and falling. The normal, phenomenal top water fishing LakeHuites is famous for had not yet started or was on pause. Top producing lures included; Rat-L-Traps in chrome blue/back, Storm Wild Eye's white with Spike-it chartreuse on the head and tail, Golden Mullet and Fire Tiger, Zoom flukes fished drop shot, smaller bass colored crank baits and Stanley Big Shot spinner baits in chartreuse and white. I soon learned the definition of a bad day of fishing at Huites is better than any good day of fishing anywhere else. Everyone in my group caught their personal best bass and also had fish bust 30# braided line as if it were nothing. I had fish of 10# and 8# and more 6's than I can count; many fish from one-and-a-half to four pounds along with three and four pound Tilapia. On the last evening of our trip Bobby and I in one hour caught 25 fish a piece from two to six pounds. That is fun... I don't care who you are!!!! Thanks David for a great trip and I can't wait to get back to set the hook on another powerful LakeHuites bass. Greg Thompson
