“David Fields’ Fishin’ Expeditions has been a very good contact for me in my international sporting travels, particularly for Brazil and Peacock Bass fishing in the Amazon. Trips through Fishin’ Expeditions have been well organized, easy to schedule and essentially pain free to execute. The pre-trip information including packing lists and “trip specific gear and tackle” is extremely useful, complete and emphasizes details critical for successful trips outside the US. Fishin’ Expeditions has consistently met or exceeded my needs for this caliber of trip.” -

Every so often it just happens…a “newbie” gets into the zone real quick and is willing to put forth the intense effort that goes with the territory…that is, the passionate pursuit of the explosive Peacock bass. On his first trip to the Amazon’s Rio Negro earlier this month Jake Lambert caught the drift…got in the zone and hammered out TWO GIANT PEACOCK’S of 20# each. Here’s what Jake Lambert had to say about his first trip to Brazil with AFE.
“David,
I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful experience that the trip on the Rio Negro was. I knew that it would be a fun and exciting time, but expectations were exceeded by a huge margin!
The terrain was absolutely beautiful and completely remote. I was astonished at the vastness of the area that we were fishing, and the immense variety of wildlife that we saw.
The boat staff and guides were fantastic, and really were there to serve, but at the same time, to ensure our comfort and safety. I couldn’t believe what good fisherman that th
e guides were, and that they knew the territory so well (we covered over 100 miles of the Rio Negro Basin!).
The accommodations and equipment were first rate! From the Belle Amazon to the bass boats, from the tackle to the toilets! Everything was nice!
The fishing experience was the most intense and physically demanding fishing that i have ever done. And you know where i am from and all of the crazy things that we do! Ha! We caught “numbers” and “size”.
Lastly, as with any experience, it is about the “people” that make a trip like this so special. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the other fishermen on the boat, and developing friendships that will last. My only regret of the whole trip is that i didn’t commandeer the kitchen one night and cook up a good old cajun feast for the whole boat!
Anyhow, the trip was a total success that exceeded my wildest expectations. I definitely will be back. Hopefully soon!
Let me know when you come down south, and we will make a fishing trip to the marsh!”
Thanks again!

Sorry I hadn’t got to it sooner but wanted to drop you a note and tell you how much I really enjoyed my Peacock bass adventure with you to Brazil last month. The trip worked perfectly from beginning to end. No glitches and no problems with great guides and good fishing makes for a fishing trip of a lifetime. I was impressed with the whole operation, the yacht, fishing boats, service and food but especially the guides. You know the angler spends more time with the guides than anyone else and when the guides are friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable it really makes a difference. Yours are! as exhibited by there desire to get you to the fish. I’ll never forget CoCo’s hacking and chopping with the machete to get us into that lagoon. I had a great trip as evidenced by my 23.5# Monster…but trips are truly great when surrounded by friends, new and old alike. It couldn’t have been better and I’m looking forward to fishing with your Amazon Fishing Expeditions once again soon.
Regards and thanks again,
Barker “Kent” Standerfer

Well David, you’ve done it again! This most recent trip aboard the Belle Amazon was certainly one of your best ever. The connections, the boat, its staff and guides, and all accommodations were simply first rate and the fishing early-on was terrific. It slowed a bit toward the end of the week due to rising water but all groups on the Rio Negro seemed to experience that same thing. To make things really great, the group you put together was one of the
friendliest and most compatible of any I have ever experienced. It was such a treat to see how the “newbies” reacted to their first peacock explosions, as it brought back fond memories of my first trip to the Amazon nearly 15 years ago. They learned very quickly as evidenced by both the numbers that they caught as well as the five over 20 pounds. Thanks so much for your invitation months ago to join this terrific group of guys. I hope we can all hook up with you again in the future for a repeat performance. Keep up the good work as I know you will.

It took a good friend quite some time to convince me to go Peacock bass fishing. He had been bass fishing with David Fields in Mexico. He said David runs a first class operation and he knew the trip to Brazil would be great. It was not great it was AWESOME!!! The guides and the crew were excellent, very friendly, and fun to be around. Fishing the Rio Negro is a great
adventure and is difficult to describe. You have to go for yourself to experience the beauty and marvel of the undisturbed wilderness of the Amazon. The fishing was also fun and exciting. David Fields does his home work. I would not hesitate to go on any fishing adventure that David has organized.

David:
I wanted to send you a short note to thank you for the FIRST RATE peacock bass fishing trip to the Rio Negro in Brazil that you arranged. Everything related to trip flowed to perfection which contributed to making our fishing experience pleasurable and comfortable. The trip exceeded my expectations by all measures and will remain as one of the truly great adventures of my life. The accommodations on the Belle Amazon were outstanding and the guides were there to make
sure you caught fish. I was particularly impressed with the trip planning that allowed us to take maximum advantage of opportunities to fish shortly after we departed Barcelos, while the Belle Amazon covered large distances along the river during both day and night. Catching the acrobatic, strong, and beautiful peacock bass in one of the most exotic and remote locales in the world is beyond description. This is the second major trip I have taken with you as my outfitter. I plan to take others in the future and hope to repeat the Rio Negro trip again. Thanks again for your knowledge and genuinely caring efforts that made our trip outstanding.

– “hooked a locomotive strapped to a rocket!”
A number of you have been asking what we expect the fishing to be like this year in the Amazon. Perhaps I can best answer that with a personal note from one fishin’ expeditions client who just returned. __D. Fields
It absolutely was worth the wait!!!! By Monday, Al Rickert and I had decided we HAD to come back – can’t do that just once. We had a marvelous, thoroughly enjoyable and eye opening time.
Attached are 3 photos: my first peacock, a 17 lb; a 21 lb and 24 lb that I caught. Al and I caught a total of 230 peacocks on the trip and had 6 that went 20 to 24 lbs. My description of hooking a peacock from the mid teens and up is that you hooked a locomotive strapped to a rocket!Talk to you soon. Kindest regards to all.

“IT WAS ATRIP OF A LIFETIME”
Wow, what a fishing trip–couldn’t have enjoyed myself any better! I thought the crew was great and especially made for an unforgettable trip. The meals were planned wonderfully and we really enjoyed all the work of putting together the beach cook-outs. We also can
’t say enough good things about our guide Arnold; he was always going above and beyond any limits–very helpful and easy to get along with. Heck of a nice guy!
Thanks for everything; it was a trip of a lifetime–not soon to be forgotten!!! Here are pictures of a 20# and 22# Monster Peacock!
Regards,
Allen Rickert, Illinois
